Borzoi was a label of Alfred A. Knopf. The sleek running dog became Knopf's colophon (the emblem was designed by Alfred's wife, Blanche Knopf, who was co-founder and president of the company).

The vast majority of Borzoi Books were hardcovers in dust jackets, and many important collectible first editions were printed by this Knopf label.

The paperback book shown here bears no book number. It was printed in 1935, and it is the exact dimensions of a Tauchnitz, Albatross or Penguin book ... what I call the "tall mass market" format (like a Signet, as opposed to the "short" format of a Dell or Pocket Book). It was printed in New York a full three years before Pocket Book released its first book. It is well made and has very high quality paper. The back cover is identical to the front.
